Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The questions and answers below only reflect a limited number of general questions about some of the services we provide. BackDoorHost is in the process of updating this FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page. By April 15th, 2012, BackDoorHost should have it updated with a listing of categories of the services people ask questions about.

Q. On the new fee hosting program, what fees are charged?: A. Set up fee of $75 and any additional work you require outside of the free hosting program.
Q. Do you offer other web hosting and other web development services?: A. Yes. We offer many other web development and web site creation and hosting services.
Q. What work will you provide for free on my web site under the free hosting program?: A. We will provide a free web site template and change the text to your name and company and other information you may want on the site. We will place as many of the graphics (pictures) you provide as long as they fit and can be placed on your web site. We will place up to 10 web pages on your site. You get unlimited e-mail addresses for your domain name, and unlimited bandwidth.
Q. Can I audio or video-stream through your hosting company?: A. Yes, but there is an additional cost and we have to be notified in advance so we may set up and prepare the computer server for audio and video-streaming which require additional, different parameters in the computer server to accommodate your web site.
Q. Can I set up a photo, music or video sharing site?: A. Yes. As long as the content is legal and you are not violating any copyright laws.
Q. What content can I place on my web site?: A. Any content that is legal, is not a scam or fraud, is not racist or prejudicial, is not a hate crime, and is allowed by the United States Government and all States for public and private viewing.
Q. If I want to start an eCommerce web site (Internet Store) to sell items can Back Door Host help me through the maze of choosing products, setting up my store, and help with other related business-start-up issues?: A. Absolutely. BackDoorHost can set up an eCommerce site and guide you through the process to set up your business for a nominal fee. If it is a basic set up for the free hosting, then there is no additional fee unless you require a database to collect data or extra software for credit/debit cards or for other use, etc.
Q. Can I accept credit cards and debit cards on my web site?: A. Absolutely. We will assist you in signing-up for a PayPal account.
Q. Will you place ads on my site?: A. We will place only 1 banner ad on your site if we choose to do so.
Q. Do you allow sites to advertise for money on their web site?: A. Yes, we allow sites to have commercial advertisements.
Q. What forms of payment do you accept?: A. All Debit and Credit Cards though PayPal.
Q. Are your server's Unix or Windows based?: A. Our servers are Windows based.
Q. Do you allow adult sites?: A. Yes, we allow adult sites.
Q. Is tax included with my set up fee or other fees charge and monthly or yearly plan price?: A. Yes, tax is included within the price.
Q. What control panel do you use and do you have a demo?: A. We use a proprietary-designed control panel called the SMT 5.0 cPanel. A demo of SMT 5.0 cPanel is not available at this time, but will be available soon. BackDoorHost Customer Service or Technical Support can assist you with learning the SMT 5.0 cPanel or you can download the tutorial manual. However, when we first set up your web site we will have control of your SMT 5.0 cPanel, and when your site is functional, we will give you control of your SMT 5.0. cPanel
Q. How do we communicate when I want BackDoorHost to set up my web site?: A. Simple! either through e-mail, Yahoo Messenger, Skype or our Live Person Chat session with our Technical Support Department.
Q. How long does it take to setup my account?: A. Your account will be setup automatically within 3 hours of ordering.
Q. Are there any hidden costs on the free hosting program?: A. No. You will be informed of all fees, if any are charged, for any additional services outside the free hosting program.
Q. Do you offer telnet or shell access?: A. No due to security reason's we do not offer telnet or shell access. You are still able to upload files through our cPanel or Filezilla or other FTP software programs.
Q. Can I password protect directories?: A. Yes you can password protect directory's within the SMT 5.0. cPanel.
